Dear Donna Jean,
Wow – the buzz last night and in our office today is incredible. Our staff have not stopped talking about your stories and you! This helps us a great deal by fueling the ‘tanks’ of our staff who give, give, give each day. We need those precious times to refocus and hear confidence and humor and reality and vision for senior care.
We are all so very inspired by your story of caring for your parents with such grace and tenacity. These are the kinds of accounts that blow the dust off old visions of hope for doing right by our parents. Listening to how your impossible situations turned into possible situations reminded us that we can do it – you did it and why can’t we?!
When you stood up to talk last night and told us that this is your first occasion to speak publicly about what you had written, I was surprised because it is a story that needs to be told! And when you described your parents with such clarity I felt they could be one of the neighbors I grew up with. THEN when your humor and wit was sprinkled it, I was absolutely delighted.
Your visit to our group was a huge success and bolstered up our Caregivers, admin staff and Greg & I. I think your story should be shared far and wide for other family caregivers and professional caregivers to hear. If we have more opportunities to host you to speak we will do so.
I look forward to continuing in our friendship. The next month will be a scramble for us, until we get our office settled into our new home. We will be in touch in coming days when we have opportunity to relax and visit.
Keep warm and know how much you have helped our team and encouraged Greg and I.
Until we see each other again,
Karen C
